It was the most intense preseason game ever.
A preseason game between two division rivals tipped off at 7:00 p.m. EST and ended at 10:15 p.m. EST.
Three hours and fifteen minutes of solid Toronto Raptors preseason basketball.
With 10.4 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, the New York Knicks held a 102-100 lead over the Toronto Raptors before Tyler Hansbrough received an inbound pass at the free throw line, faked the hand off, spun towards the basket and slammed home the game tying dunk all over Metta World Peace.
With 6.1 seconds remaining in overtime, the Raptors down 113 – 110 are set to inbound the ball on the Knicks baseline. The official checks the ball to the Raptors inbounder who scrambles to inbound the ball to Julyan Stone near mid-court. Stone passes it to a flashing Terrance Ross on the wing, Ross turns, fires a desperation three… SWISH!
“We are going to double overtime in Toronto.”
The second overtime proved to be the final nail in the coffin. The Raptors rallied to a 123-120 win over the Knicks.
Ross led all scorers with 27 points including six three-pointers.
Quincy Acy was a force on defence. He logged in 24-minutes in tonight’s game.
“The main thing he (coach Casey) was focused on was defence. He made sure we were going hard all game. There are great players in the league and those players are going to make shots but the biggest thing is to be in the best position defensively,” says Acy.
Former Raptors big man Andrea Bargnani finished the game with 13 points and four rebounds ignoring all the Air Canada Centre boos throughout the night.
Raptors notable players
Terrance Ross and Landry Fields
Terrance Ross showed off his arsenal of offensive talent. He proves time and time again that he is a solid backup for Demar Derozan.
I was certainly impressed with the decision making of Landry Fields on the basketball court. He cuts at the right time. He crashes the offensive glass. He gets back on defence. He does all of the little things that might go unnoticed. He does not have his shot back, but he is finding other ways to contribute.
*The Raptors outrebounded the Knicks 57-52. The number of turnovers is getting lower; tonight the Raptors finished 15 turnovers and 29 assists.
